Sutton was a prolific goal-scorer throughout his career - he was joint top scorer (with Dion Dublin and Michael Owen) in the FA Premier League 1997-98 season. Sutton became the most expensive player in English Football when he transferred to Blackburn Rovers for 5 million pounds. He scored fifteen goals to help Rovers secure the Premier League title.
