Taggart signed for Leicester City in 1998 and played in back to back League Cup Finals, winning the competition in 2000. He was often partnered with Steve Walsh and Matt Elliott in Leicester’s defense. Leicester City suffered relegation in 2002, but Taggart opted to stay with the club helping them regain their top-flight status. The Northern Irish international was capped over 50 times by his country.
