Dowie is a striker who played from 1983 until 2001, most notably in the Premier League for Southampton, Crystal Palace and West Ham.  Dowie joined West Ham in 1991 and proved to be a skillful player taking the place of injured Trevor Morley and scoring four goals in the last twelve games of the season, securing the team’s promotion to the First Division. He played alongside Alan Shearer and Mathew Le Tissier at Southampton – two of the country’s highest regarded strikers in the 1990s.
