Carter was an integral part of the team which gained Millwall promotion to the top flight in 1987-88, the first time ever in Millwall’s history. Carter’s reputation grew and in 1991, he moved to Arsenal. He spent three and a half years with the Gunners. During his time at Arsenal, he won the FA Cup, the League Cup and went on to win the UEFA Cup Winners’ Cup.
