Young began his career as a trainee at Tottenham, before moving to Charlton in 2001. He played over 200 times for the South London club and won their Player of the Season award in 2005. Young then enjoyed spells at Middlesbrough, Aston Villa and QPR before retiring in 2014. Young played for England 7 times in 2005.
