Lawrenson is best known for his time at Liverpool Football Club, where he moved for a club record fee of £900,000 in 1981. During his seven year spell with the club, he formed a formidable centre-back partnership with Alan Hansen, and won five League Titles, three League Cups, an FA Cup and a European Cup. Lawrenson made 39 appearances for his country and is now a familiar face on television, where he regularly appears as a pundit and commentator.
