Guppy began his senior career at Wycombe Wanderers, where he made over 200 appearances in five years. In 1997, he moved to Leicester for £850,000, playing over 170 times for the Foxes, and winning the League Cup in 2000. Guppy made one appearance for England in 1999 against Belgium.
